Repair, Heal, Recover: 5 Overuse Injuries We Can Treat with Tenex
If you’re facing tendonitis in any area of your body, the Tenex ultrasound procedure can provide pain relief you didn’t think was possible. Read on to find out how it can help in some specific cases.

If you’re struggling with chronic pain, reduced mobility, and decreased function because of problems with your tendons, we have good news: The minimally-invasive Tenex procedure at Carolina Joint & Arthritis can change your life in just a few weeks.

If you have tendon pain, you’re likely suffering from tendonitis (inflammation of the tendon) or tendinosis (damage to your tendon caused by deterioration of collagen fibers). These injuries cause thick, hard tissue to build up, so the Tenex procedure uses ultrasound energy from a wand inserted through a tiny incision to break up and remove this damaged tissue from your tendons, leaving only healthy tissue behind.

While Dr. Austin Yeargan can use Tenex to repair virtually any tendon in your body, here are five of the most common overuse injuries we treat with Tenex to help your body heal and recover:

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the ligament that runs along the bottom of your foot from your heel to your toes. When the Tenex procedure is used, the ultrasonic energy breaks up and removes the damaged tissue from the tendon, leading to lasting pain relief.

Tennis elbow

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is usually caused by overuse of the forearm muscles, causing inflammation of the tendons on the outside of the upper arm near the elbow. The pain can be caused by scar tissue in the tendon; the Tenex procedure can remove the scar tissue, relieving the pain and leading to a faster recovery.

Achilles tendonitis

Your Achilles tendon is on the back of your leg, connecting the lower muscle of your leg to your heel bone. If the tendon becomes swollen and inflamed, it can cause sharp pain in your heel, especially in the morning, that can make walking difficult. As in other cases, Tenex can cut out and remove the damaged tissue in the tendon, bringing relief.

Rotator cuff tendinosis

With rotator cuff tendinosis, the tendons surrounding the rotator cuff in your shoulder become swollen and painful, limiting the motion of your arm and the length of your reach. Again, using Tenex to treat the injured area is a minimally invasive way to relieve the swelling and improve the function of your shoulder.

Jumper’s knee

Jumper’s knee, or patellar tendonitis, happens when small tears in the patellar tendon in your knee take place due to jumping or other physical activities that require quick changes of direction. The Tenex ultrasound treatment can remove the torn areas from the tendon to relieve the pain and allow the area to heal.
